The First-Year Composition Archive is committed to promoting a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
As a publication of the WAC Clearinghouse, this archive follows its commitment to provide open-access, curated instructional and professional resources while promoting an inclusive academic community. The Archive also supports the Colorado State University land-acknowledgment statement, which honors the ties of Indigenous people to land on which the university operates.
As editors of the First Year Composition Archive (FYCA), we aim to provide a safe and inclusive space for teachers and researchers to share their pedagogical labor. However, while we support academic freedom, we want to create a space where contributors and participants are free from discrimination based on race, color, national origin, age, perceived or actual physical or mental disability, pregnancy, genetic information, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, creed, religion, honorably discharged veteran or military status, or use of a trained guide dog or service animal, as required by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972, Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act and ADA Amendment Act, and the Age Discrimination Act of 1975.
We recognize and celebrate the benefits of uniqueness, similarities, and differences. We seek to encourage greater representation across cultures, backgrounds, and viewpoints. We do this in a manner that demonstrates respect and appreciation for all individuals, including their differences.
In an attempt to maintain a positive and beneficial environment, we ask that all contributors refrain from posting syllabi, assignments, or course materials that may be harmful to others. FYCA editors reserve the right to remove or reject material that we determine to be discriminatory or inappropriate. Contributors who repeatedly attempt to submit inappropriate material may be permanently banned from submitting to the site.
